At the same time when we offer to our clients a floating cover or the devices known as aluminum covers and domes, we also offer them the denominated internal floating screen.

Those are some devices that, like their name indicates, are floating and are placed in the interior of the different storage tanks as a target to control the emissions that they can detach. And for that reason it is supposed that these, composed by pontones and structural elements, reduce the oxidation of the content.

They serve a big service that additionally assumes a long list of benefits for the companies that are using it, for example a minimum cost of maintenance, an easy installation, an absolute respect to the environment and a very economic price.

What is geodesic dome and for what does it serve?

The aluminum dome or geodesic dome or perhaps better known as aluminum geodesic dome. Like also the name tells, it is one type of structure that is fabricated with aluminum and that is used fundamentally in industries like refinery.

Particularly, is can be established that it is a cover that has the following identified caracters:

• Triangular design and it is selfsupported
• It is used for the protection of a content of tanks on the diverse climatológical, environmental or athmospheric conditions
• Thank you for it the water does not get in to the content
• It helps, similarly, the geomestic dome to avoid the posibility that it would produce certain toxic or dangerous vapor emissions  from the inside of the correspondent tank.

Aluminum dome o dome aluminum son las otras denominaciones que recibe lo que, de manera más habitual, se conoce como domo geomésico. Este podemos decir que es un tipo de estructura que está fabricada con aluminio y que se usa fundamentalmente en industrias tales como refinerías.

En concreto, podemos establecer que es una cubierta que tiene las siguientes señas de identidad:

• Dispone de un diseño triangular y es autoportante.
• Se usa para conseguir proteger el contenido de los tanques de las diversas condiciones climatológicas, ambientales o atmosféricas que tienen lugar en el exterior de aquellos.
• Gracias a ella se logra que el agua no penetre en el contenido.
• Ayuda, de igual modo, el domo geomésico a evitar que se pueda producir lo que sería la emisión de vapores de cierta toxicidad o peligrosidad desde el interior del correspondiente tanque.

What is the separator of oil?

The chemical or petroleum industries need to install the aluminum floating cover for its buildings, but it is also primarily important that they establish the separator of oil (standard API) to the constructions.

It can be said that it is a dispositive that, as its own name indicates, is in charge of separate important quantities of suspended oil in residuals of water that come from refineries of plants that, for one’s part, are in charge of process the natural gas or chemical industries.

Because floating covers are versatile inventions it is necessary to take care of them and put them under comprehensive and detailed maintenance. Only in this way they can achieve the goals they were designed for – and this is the reason why a proper care is necessary. 

Those below are the main things you need to focus on while taking care of and maintaining the floating covers:

• It is essential to constantly control the conditions of tank seal joints - not only external but internal ones as well.
• Equally important is to provide the drain and suction system in your tank. This way you will prevent accumulation of rain or snow which can build up on a roof and can cause its sinking. Because of this it is essential to pay full attention to system of drain and use either skimmer, swivel joints or hoses. Emission reduction devices, system of air purification and loading arms are the elements that must undergo extensive maintenance and should a priority in floating covers.
• The valves as well should be in a perfect condition at all times so that the floating installations could perform flawlessly and fulfill their functions.

Mantenimiento de las cubiertas flotantes

A la hora de almacenar determinados fluidos e incluso en lo que respecta al perfecto cuidado de los cultivos, toman especialmente protagonismo unos dispositivos llamados cubiertas flotantes. Se trata de unas láminas que se realizan con materiales plásticos o aluminio y que tienen como función básica el conseguir objetivos, en función de donde se instalen, tales como controlar los olores en lo que son los tanques de homogeneización, evitar la evaporación del agua en los tanques de este líquido o incluso crear un microclima para que se fomente el desarrollo de determinados cultivos.

Por todas estas razones tan importantes, está claro que se hace necesario someter a las citadas cubiertas flotantes a un mantenimiento contundente y exhaustivo. Sólo de esta manera se logrará que alcancen los fines por los que se han instalado.

De ahí que podamos subrayar que aquellas se pueden y deben ser objeto de intervenciones tales como estas:

• Es imprescindible controlar en todo momento lo que es el estado de las juntas de sello, ya sean de cubiertas externas como internas. 
• No menos importante es tener bajo supervisión lo que sería el sistema de drenaje y succión flotante. Este lo que se encarga es de evitar que la lluvia o la nieve que se acumule en las cubiertas pueda hacer que se hundan. Por eso, por el vital ejercicio que lleva a cabo, hay que realizar un correcto y exhaustivo mantenimiento del citado sistema, ya sea de tipo articulado, de manguera, con juntas articuladas o con skimmer.
• Las válvulas igualmente deben encontrarse en todo momento en perfecto estado para que las instalaciones flotantes que nos ocupan cumplan sus funciones.

Los dispositivos de reducciones de emisiones, el sistema purificador de aire o los brazos de carga son igualmente elementos que deben someterse a un exhaustivo mantenimiento en pro de las cubiertas flotantes.

What are floating covers and what are they used for?

When we talk about floating covers we are also taking about liquid odor protection and control and the conservation of water that is stores in tanks specifically designed for it.

Nowadays, we can find many different models and types of floating covers in the market. In terms of functionality and for the excellent results provided, we will highlight two types: the flexible floating cover and the flat aluminum covers.

We can say that the flexible floating covers have a great capacity to adapt to the different tanks. Thanks to their composition, made of geomembranes, they are highly compatible with different chemicals and environments. They are ideal for odor control in homogenization tanks and leachate ponds. Thanks to the incorporated gutters, there is no need to worry about rainwater drainage.

La propiedad principal de las cubiertas flotantes es su im-permeabilidad, al mismo tiempo que permite la transpiración, por lo que facilita la gestión del agua y el control de los olores. General-mente son muy empleados en instalaciones agrarias de cultivo, tales como invernaderos o planta-ciones, y en fábricas e insta-laciones de aguas residuales, controlando los gases emitidos además de los olores. Meet Aluminum Tank Cover

When using storage tanks, the control of emissions is an important factor. High emissions can increase air pollution and drive up costs. An aluminium cover or roof can serve to protect the stored product as well as reducing emissions and reducing costs.

An aluminium internal floating roof in a storage tank serves to control emissions. A floating roof can minimise or completely remove the vapour zone above the liquid stored in the tank. The installation of the floating roof therefore reduces emissions and evaporative losses of storage products, or eliminates them completely. An aluminium flat cover is designed to cover large spans, in order to minimise vapour zone above the stored liquid.
